Indianapolis welcomed the Monster Energy AMA Supercross to the RCA Dome for the final ticketed event before the lights go out permanently in the old home of the Indianapolis Colts. Coming into the night, the field looked a bit different than previous races this season. Injury and illness have forced a few to sit out the weekend, including Timmy Ferry and Nick Wey. Wey is attempting to recover from pneumonia, and Ferry is nursing an injury sustained in practice earlier this week. Also, Billy Laninovich was slated to race in the 450cc class, but a gnarly get-off in the first practice kept him from lining up at race time. |

It was a night for firsts in Atlanta as the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series rolled into the Georgia Dome, as homestate hero Davi Millsaps emerged with the first Supercross win of his career aboard his Red Bull Honda, and Oklahoma's Trey Canard won in his very first try, earning the victory in the Eastern Region Supercross Lites series kickoff. For Millsaps, his hugely popular win got the crowd of 67,429 on hand fired up in a big way, as he stalked series point leader Chad Reed from the drop of the gate, finally forcing the Australian into a mistake that sent him over the handlebars of his Yamaha. |

High winds and dark skies greeted the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series in Texas where the gates dropped for the 42nd time in Houston. This round was the first of two in Texas, and the last West Coast Lites race until their return in Seattle. Saturday night was a night of upsets with the winner of each class grabbing his first win of the season. With reports of a tornado touching down just a quarter of a mile from the stadium, riders and fans alike were grateful for the closed roof which allowed the night of incredible racing to unfold. |

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series was welcomed by classic southern California sunny skies as it rolled into San Diego, CA for round six of the series, which is also the last west coast stop until Seattle in late April. By the time the night was over we were left with a new points leader in the Lites class as Jason Lawrence notched his third straight victory, and in the Supercross class there was the first-ever clean sweep of the California rounds as Chad Reed collected another win. |

Saturday marked the third and final Anaheim stop for the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Under typical February skies, both riders and fans seemed relieved to have dry conditions to close out the Anaheim trifecta. Earlier in the day, during one of the Lites practice sessions, Factory Yamaha’s Broc Hepler took a nasty spill, breaking his left thumb and forcing him to call it quits. Word has it that he has already booked a flight back home for a possible surgery. More bad news surfaced in the Yamaha camp as Grant Langston announced that he, too, was unable to race. A ruptured a blood vessel in his eye has temporarily left him virtually blind in one eye. |

This weekend at San Francisco the mud flew higher than the seagulls that circled the bay outside AT&T Park. Déjà vu…
So far this Supercross season, 50% of the races have been mud races following a week of torrential rain. After A1, we think most of the racers were over the mud. They were ready for dry, sculpted, fast tracks. To their dismay, however, San Fran was not going to offer those conditions. Instead, the Bay Area played host to downpours, enough to delay flights, flood parking lots, and force countless highway accidents and fender benders. |

The 80’s are back, or were for a night this weekend in Anaheim. Fluorescent colors, stonewashed jeans, and rat’s nest hairdos flooded the pits of the A2 pits for the 1986 Throwback Supercross. Featuring a replica of that famous race from ’86, complete with a monster triple and choppy sand turns, the retro track offered racers something different and fans new excitement.
However, the 80’s theme took a back seat to the devastating news from the Monster Energy Kawasaki pit just before race time. Just after 6 pm, James Stewart invited members of the press inside his truck for an impromptu press conference where he regretfully informed us that he would not be racing and that there was a good chance that his Supercross season was over. |

After an overcast mud race at Anaheim, both racers and fans alike were ready for a solid dirt Supercross race with some reasonable weather. Thankfully, Phoenix offered up both great weather and a well-prepped track for the second round of the AMA Supercross Series. Chase Field, with its retractable roof and abundant amenities, opened its doors to the Supercross world and welcomed 46,121 fans. And these fans got to see a show! The Lites class offered intense battles throughout the night, the best coming in the main event. In the Supercross class, all eyes were on James Stewart and Chad Reed, intensely watching to see who would come out on top in Arizona. |
