The fifth round of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship roared into the small town of Buchanan, Michigan for the 35th Annual Red Bud National. The weather was perfect on the weekend preceding the Fourth of July, and the intense racing brought plenty of fireworks to the track. When the day was over, it was a 1-2 sweep for the Monster Energy/Kawasaki backed Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley in the Lites Class, with Team Makita Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael clinching another overall win as he bid a final farewell to Red Bud. Warm temperatures, partly sunny skies, and a great (albeit smoother than normal) course welcomed the AMA pros to Budds Creek this weekend, but at the end of the day, it was once again Ricky Carmichael who showed the other guys who’s boss after a long day of battling his nemesis, James Stewart. RC collected a 2-1 moto tally in his second-to-last race ever at the famed Maryland circuit. In Lites action, Ryan Villopoto walked away with both moto wins to take his first victory of the season.

The AMA Toyota Motocross Championships returned to racing this weekend at Motocross 338 in Southwick, MA. After a long day of racing in Southwick's deep sand, it was Ben Townley on top in the Lites class and RC with another 1-1 overall win in the premiere division.
LITES MOTO ONE
Michael Willard led the pack into turn one, but Villopoto took over in the first corner and led Willard, Townley and Grant on lap one, while Lawrence was left picking his bike up in the second corner. Townley quickly took over second and set out to catch the defending MX Lites National Champion, while Grant did his best to keep up. Ryan Dungey, meanwhile, began to charge through the pack after a mediocre start, and found himself in fifth, behind Martin Davalos, by lap three. |

Summer is officially here, and like you, we enjoy kicking ours off with some good old-fashioned outdoor motocross at Hangtown. The weather in the famous Northern California moto Mecca was warm and incredibly nice all weekend long, but the temperatures weren’t the only thing heated at the track. During Saturday’s practice sessions, Yamaha of Troy’s Jason Lawrence and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto got into it several times on the track, and the events eventually escalated into a full-blown brawl. |

After clinching the championship one week ago in Seattle, Washington, the final round of the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross series in Las Vegas, Nevada, was more for fun than anything else for Team Monster Energy Kawasaki's James Stewart. "This is Vegas and it's all about fun out here," Stewart said before the race began, "but everyone is going to go out there and give it their best, so I'm going to give it my all for the win." Once the checkered flag flew at the conclusion of the main event, though, you wouldn’t have even known that the championship was already wrapped up for him, as the Floridian racer rode a near-flawless race to take his 13th win of the season. The win also marked his seventh consecutive win at the venue.

Seattle greeted the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross series with uncharacteristically sunny skies as the series finally made the trek back to the west coast after spending the past several months in the central and eastern time zones. Seattle delivered great weather, and Live Nation and the AMA delivered an incredible night of racing; complete with a post-race fight, new faces on the podium, and a new champion in the Supercross class.
With the championship in the Lites class already wrapped up by Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, all attention was on James Stewart. Coming into the night, James needed to finish in ninth-place or higher to secure the AMA Supercross championship. Not surprisingly, when the dust finally settled on a great night of racing, James had won his 12th race of the year and more importantly his first AMA Supercross class title. Here's how it all went down...

After two long weeks off, the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series went back to work on Saturday at Detroit's Ford Field.
Heading into the weekend, the most anticpated part of the race was the finale of the East Coast Lites Series; Yamaha of Troy's Ryan Morais was holding a slim three-point lead in the series standings, with the Monster Energy/Kawasaki/Pro Circuit duo of Ben Townley and Darcy Lange hot on his heels. The series was finally decided here in Detroit, when in the last main event of the season Ben Townley secured the championship with a second place finish, ahead of Ryan Morais in fifth. |
