Carlsbad, CA – June 23, 2008 – Wasserman Media Group‘s athletes Ryan Sheckler, Bucky Lasek, Jamie Bestwick, Ryan Nyquist and Blake Williams took home 1st place podium wins at the first round of AST Dew Tour Panasonic Open in Baltimore this weekend.
Sheckler, a Three Time Dew Tour Champion, kicked off the 2008 AST Dew Tour Season by taking home a 1st place win in Skate Street, uping his chance for a Four Time Dew Tour Championship. He had a flawless run which he finished off with a kick flip down a four stair gap to a flat landing. Fellow rider Paul Rodriguez had a stellar performance putting him in 2nd place.
Lasek, a Baltimore Native, seized the 1st place Skate vert podium and gave his home town something to cheer for in his 2nd by run pulling out a fastplant spin for his friends and family in the audience. Last year at the Baltimore opening he was riding on an injured knee and is obviously 100% healthy as of the competition this past weekend. Fellow WMG Athlete Bob Burnquist rounded out the podium with his 3rd place finish.
Blake Williams, who is new to the Dew Tour, podium walked away with the Freestyle Motocross top podium position. Williams said, “I am looking forward to a great season and not letting myself get carried away. I had two good runs and was able to come away with 1st.“ Blake currently sits 1st in the championship and is looking forward to staying there for the season. Nate Adams also landed on the podium in FMX taking home 2nd place.
Bestwick, who is no stranger to 1st place wins at Dew Tour, landed an amazing alley-oop downside whip that got the judge’s and crowd’s attention. Fellow WMG athlete Chad Kagy took 2nd place in the BMX Vert competition.
Ryan Nyquist landed the highest score of the night in BMX Dirt after doing a truckdriver, suicide no-handed 360 and a double barspin 720. Nyquist commented, “Baltimore has been good to me. It’s always awesome to place 1st when everyone is riding their best. It should be an interesting season.”
Wasserman Media Group would like to congratulate all of their athletes for a great start to the competition season.
