Ricky Carmichael Wins Moto X Step Up E-mail
Sunday, 03 August 2008
LOS ANGELES- This past April at ESPN’s debut of the Moto X World Championships Ricky Carmichael made a claim that he would come back to win X Games Gold in the Moto X Step Up Final, and tonight he made that claim a reality.

After nearly an hour of raising the bar, literally, Carmichael cleared 33 feet to beat out Ronnie Renner who only cleared 32 feet. It was apparent that Carmichael was more than thrilled about the win. “It was an awesome night!” He said excitedly “It was an awesome crowd. The atmosphere was amazing. Thank you! I hope everyone had a great time!” Nearly 13,000 spectators packed the Staples Center seats tonight as Carmichael took the Step Up title and wowed the crowd.

Information on all X Games events can be found on www.expn.com for fans or on www.espneventmedia.com for media only.

ABOUT ESPN’s X GAMES FRANCHISE
ESPN, The Worldwide Leader in Action Sports, first developed its X Games franchise in 1995. Part of ESPN Original Entertainment, X Games, Winter X Games and All Access are just some of the original action sports programming currently shown on ESPN and ESPN2. In addition to the two U.S.-based events, ESPN has held X Games competitions and demonstration events around the world including Dubai, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Malaysia, China and Spain. The global franchise has also expanded its reach to EXPN.com, the definitive site for action sports fans, and to consumer products such as X Games bikes, protective gear, skateboards and DVDs. X Games will remain in Los Angeles through 2009.
